BEARD MAKES ALL-STATE, TAUTALATASI ALL-NORCAL

Freshman softball pitcher Ana Beard was picked to the 3CFCA All-State team and sophomore center fielder Meida Tautalatasi made the All-NorCal team. 

Beard (12-6) was also selected as Coast-North Pitcher of the Year. Beard is No. 3 in the state and first in the conference in ERA at 1.17. She is also third in the conference in wins and second in strikeouts with 73. Beard had a remarkable two-hitter over nine innings in a 1-0 win over highly ranked Bakersfield.

A terrific athlete, Tautalatasi is third in the conference in both batting average at .448 and stolen bases with 16.

Ohlone (30-10), which has an abundance of quality players, will open the NorCal Playoffs at home this week against East Bay-rival Diablo Valley College (24-15) in a best-of-three game series.

The games are set for 2 p.m. Friday, noon Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday (if necessary).
