Ohlone Takes on the Competition at 14th Annual De Anza Invitational
CUPERTINO – February 24th marks the date of the 14th Annual De Anza Invite, the second of three meets taking place in Cupertino this season.
Highlights of the meet include the Men's 200 Medley Relay, and swims from Freshmen Winston Mahendra, Madeline Kuhlmann, Angadjit Deol, and Sophomore Brooklyn Sisk.
Men's 200 Medley Relay – Pulling ahead of Las Positas on the second leg and finishing 0.97 seconds ahead of LPC, the Ohlone Men's 200 Medley Relay took first place. The relay consisted of Angadjit Deol leading off in Backstroke (29.43), Baylis Hin swimming Breaststroke (27.05), Quinn Rees swimming Butterfly (24.87), and Miguel Medrano anchoring Freestyle (22.30).
Winston Mahendra – Winston Mahendra placed top 6 in the Men's 200 Free, swimming a personal best of 1:57.71. He also placed top 10 in the Men's 100 Free with a time of 57.07 and top 8 in the Men's 100 Fly with a time of 58.99. Winston participated in multiple relays, leading off the Men's 200 Free Relay with a 24.50 split, swimming Fly for the third leg of the Men's 200 Medley Relay (26.39), and anchoring the Men's 400 Medley Relay with a 52.65 Free split.
Madeline Kuhlmann – Madeline Kuhlmann placed top 13 in the Women's 50 Free with a time of 32.90 and top 9 in the Women's 200 Free with a time of 2:42.11. She also led off the Women's 200 Free Relay with a 32.69 split and swam Fly in the Women's 200 Medley Relay (40.73).
Brooklyn Sisk – Competing in four events, Brooklyn Sisk placed top 11 in the Women's 50 Free with a time of 32.46 and top 12 in the Women's 100 IM with a time of 1:21.01. She also swam the second leg of the Women's 200 Free Relay with a 32.59 split and led off the Women's 200 Medley Relay in Backstroke (36.67).
Angadjit Deol – Angadjit Deol competed in six events total, including three relays and three individual events. He placed top 5 in the Men's 100 Back with a personal best time of 1:05.63 and top 8 in the Men's 200 Back with a time of 2:34.94. Deol also placed top 11 in the Men's 50 Free with a time of 25.44. In relays, he led off the Men's 200 Medley Relay swimming a 29.43 Back, led off the Men's 400 Medley Relay with a 1:04.76 Back, and anchored the Men's 200 Free Relay with a 24.75 split.
