Ohlone Dives Into Conference Season with Strong Showing at Kickoff

CUPERTINO – De Anza College hosted the season's Conference Kickoff, marking the first of three meets that will take place in Cupertino this season.

Highlights of the 1 day meet include swims from Freshmen Baylis Hin, Sydney Luu, Carson Harris, and Meaghan Lovato.

Baylis Hin – Baylis Hin placed top 3 in the Men's 100 Breast with a time of 1:02.67. He also secured a top 4 finish in the 100 IM, breaking the one-minute mark with a 59.61. In the 100 Free, he placed top 10 with a 51.28, with a split of 24.35. Baylis also participated in both relays, leading off the Men's 200 Free Relay (23.84) and swimming Breaststroke in the Men's 200 Medley Relay (28.26).

Sydney Luu – Swimming a personal best in the Women's 50 Free, Sydney placed in the top 31 with a 39.18. She also placed top 31 in the 100 Free with a time of 1:32.83. Sydney made her first appearance on Ohlone's C Relay team, anchoring both the Women's 200 Medley Relay (37.49) and the Women's 200 Free Relay (41.6).

Carson Harris – Carson Harris placed top 26 in the Men's 50 Free with a time of 24.98 and top 30 in the Men's 100 Free with a 57.22. He also anchored the Men's 200 Free Relay with a 24.64 split.

Meaghan Lovato – Meaghan Lovato showed one of the biggest improvements of the meet in the Women's 500 Free, placing top 10 with a personal best of 8:01.23. After swimming an 8:27.00 at the CCSF Rams Invitational, she dropped 25.77 seconds from her previous time. Meaghan also placed top 24 in the Women's 100 IM with a 1:35.72 and participated in both B relays, swimming the second leg of the Women's 200 Free (46.34) and Butterfly in the Women's 200 Medley Relay (34.19).
