The Ohlone baseball team advanced to the next round of the CCCAA NorCal Baseball Playoffs with two stirring wins over Butte on Saturday, 12-6 and 2-1 (10 innings). Ohlone took the best-of-three playoff series two games to one.

Max Heverly tripled and scored the dramatic winning run in the 2-1 clincher on Brett Tressen's sacrifice fly.

The Coast Pacific champion Renegades (34-9), seeded fifth, will host No. 6 seed Fresno City (32-10) in a best-of-three series in the NorCal Super Regional, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (if necessary).

Against Butte, Zach Patterson got the clutch pitching win in Game 3 with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. Starting pitcher Andrew Amato had a stellar effort, allowing one earned run and over 7.1 innings with five strikeouts and one walk.

Bradley Norton, who was 2 for 4 with a double, staked Ohlone to a 1-0 lead in the second inning with an RBI single, scoring Patterson.

But Butte tied it in the third and then the teams' pitching and defense took over until the climactic 10th.

In the 12-6 win, Ohlone took command with seven runs in the sixth inning. Norman Leon had a clutch two run single during the uprising.

Ryan Robinson (8-1) got the pitching win, allowing one earned run over 6.0 innings. Norton was 2 for 4 with a home run, double and four RBIs. Tressen was 3 for 4 with a double. Dalton Vanhille drew three walks.
