Before freshmen outside hitter Sabrina Quilalang joined the Renegades she attended California High School in San Ramon, CA. Quilalang wasn't actually planning on playing collegiate volleyball, let alone attend Ohlone College. She barely was able to finish her high school athletic career after having suffered a knee injury that took her out of the final half of her senior year season as well as the upcoming club volleyball season. It wasn't until July of 2017 did she decide to respond to a call from head coach Jeremy Penaflor and inquire about the volleyball program at Ohlone College. The rest is history.
In the months to follow she would put together one of the best seasons an outside hitter at Ohlone College has ever played. Quilalang finished her first season of collegiate competition by being selected to the Coast Conference South All-Conference First Team. This despite suffering yet another season ending knee injury five matches before the end of the season. Like her sophomore teammate and co-captain Hannah Finnigan, Quilalang would go through the majority of the season leading or ranking near the top of the conference in many offensive categories. She would finish the season 6th in the conference in total kills (203) and 2nd in kills per set (2.94). She would finish in the top 10 in the conference in many other offensive and defensive categories despite having 5 less matches then her counterparts in the conference!
Quilalang would also go on to begin her academic career on a high note finishing her first collegiate semester with a 3.75 grade point average. This qualifies her for selection onto the CCCWVCA All-State Scholar Athlete Team for the 2017 season.
